A Level 2 charger is a 40 to 60 amp continuous load, which is more than a lot of older 100 amp services have left to give. The install starts with a load calculation. Sometimes the answer is a straightforward 50 amp circuit to the garage; sometimes it's load management or a service upgrade first. You get told which before anything is ordered.
